The cities of Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Waukeegan,
Evanston, and Chicago glow in the dark
This photo was taken 10 seconds before Chicago Alight and covers roughly four times the area. Both photos
were taken using a special motorized camera mount that was built from spare space-station parts by an astronaut.
In the full size versions of the images, boat lights, mostly red, can be seen scattered around the blackness of Lake Michigan.
We’re not allowed to tell you the astronaut’s name (FAQ) but it’s not hard to figure it out if you know that this
photo was taken during Expedition 30 in 2012. He speaks publicly about his photography and camera mount.
