Ice Off The Tip

Ice Off the Tip

Beaver Island, Northern Lake Michigan

February ice floes surround Beaver, Garden, High, and Hog Islands, and ice fills the Straits.
The Tip of the Mit’s many inland lakes are in the prime of ice-fishing season.

It can take a while to figure out what’s land, what’s ice, and what’s clouds, but it’s all beautiful.

The Leelanau Peninsula is visible in the bottom-left corner of the photo; Grand Traverse Bay is starting to ice up, too.
