Fresh Water Floes

Fresh Water Floes

The Straits of Mackinac

The lakes are traditionally called Michigan and Huron, but fresh water flows so easily — back and forth —
through the five-mile-wide Straits that they are really one big lake, hydrologically.  Mackinac is not a river.
As such, “Lake Michigan-Huron” dwarfs even vast Superior as the Greatest Lake by 40%.
